  • Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live
    September 27 • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Participants in Museum Day Live can get free admission for two people if they present a Museum Day Live ticket at the front desk.

    Both the Peninsula Fine Arts Center and Mariners Museum will be closed for routine electrical maintenance. The park and Noland Trail will be open, however.

    Virginia Poet Laureate Emerita Sofia Starnes, who edited The Nearest Poem Anthology, invites the public to share favorite poems and anecdotes of why they're the "nearest." Poets and lovers of the spoken word are invited to share original and favorite poems in the beautiful Ferguson Gallery on the second Thursday of each month.

    Explore PFAC's new exhibit, "Environmental Impact," create artworks inspired by the exhibit and learn how you can minimize your own impact on the environment. Admission is free and art activities are free for members, $2 for nonmembers.

  • 2nd Day of the Dead Celebration
    Nov. 1 • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE ADMISSION
    Join us for our second celebration of Dia de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead devoted to remembering loved ones. Learn about the artistic traditions with CNU professor Liz Moran, write poems with Virginia Poet Laureate Emerita Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, get your face painted by A Mile of Smiles, meet a costumed Catrina, help build a community ofrenda and decorate clay skulls. Admission is free; face painting is $3 for children and $5 for adults.
