    PFAC's monthly celebration of spoken word welcomes Nicole Emmelhaiz, a poet and assistant professor at Christopher Newport University. Poets are invited to share original or favorite poems during the open mic portion of the evening. Art + Words is offered on the second Thursday of every month.

  • Art After Dark: Broken Mouth Annie

    Enjoy live music from Broken Mouth Annie, free admission to the galleries and take part in the newest trend -- adult coloring -- with local artist Karen Long Freidt's new adult coloring books. A cash bar will be available from La Bodega Hampton and Sliders will be selling delicious fried chicken, hamburger, and veggie burger sliders!

    We're traveling back in time to the 1800s to explore America in the era of the Hudson River School! Meet reenactors from the period, try painting en plein air, compete in our scavenger hunt contest, make old-fashioned games and create prints inspired by nature. In addition, the winner of our Count the Cow contest (entries are due Sept. 11) will be announced! Admission is free; art projects are $2 for nonmembers.

  • Southern Views: An Art Talk with Christopher Oliver

    Join Christopher Oliver, assistant curator of American Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, for a look at what the Hudson River School painters' contemporaries were doing in the South during the same period. Oliver will highlight the travels of Frederic Edwin Church in Virginia, and the work of Southern counterparts like Thomas Addison Richards. Free for members and students with valid ID; $6 nonmembers.

  • Galleries Closed for Exhibition Change
    October 19-30
    The Peninsula Fine Arts Center's galleries will be closed from October 19-30 as the new exhibition, "Virginia Made," is put on display. Classes and regularly scheduled activities, including Art Start, are not affected by the closure, but Open Clay Studio will not be offered on Sunday, October 25.
  • 5th Annual Artini

    Our most popular event is back, this time with a spooky theme just in time for Halloween! Artini challenges the area's best bartenders to concoct a new cocktail and gives attendees the chance to vote on their favorite!
