BIENNIAL 2010
Artists and craftspersons are invited to submit work for BENNIAL 2010 at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Newport News, VA, from October 2, 2010 to January 2, 2011.

Juror
We are honored to have Richard Hunt, one of America’s most honored African American artists as juror. Mr. Hunt, who lives and works in Chicago, is recognized as a premier sculptor, as well as a draftsman and printmaker. Mr. Hunt is also working with the Newport News Public Art Foundation, bringing a monumental sculpture to Newport News in 2011. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to jurying Pfac’s Biennial 2010.

Awards
A total of $7,000 in awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. This includes the Peninsula Fine Arts Center Award, and several Awards of Excellence in various mediums.

Entry Fee
Pfac members, current as of July 2, 2010, may submit 1-3 entries for $25.
Non-members may submit 1-3 entries for $30.
Pfac Artists League members may submit 1-3 works for $20.
All artists may submit an additional 2 works for $5 each.

Eligible Media and Dimensions
Original works in any media are eligible for entry. Works must have been completed within the last two years – that is, dated 2008 to the present – and not previously exhibited at Pfac. For 2-D work, objects must not exceed 96 inches in any single dimension. 3-D work must not exceed 96 inches in any single dimension nor exceed 250 pounds. For works requiring special handling or presentation, information and/or instructions must accompany the entry on separate copy.

Jurying
All works will be juried by digital image submitted by CD. Notification will be sent by email on or about July 26. Artists without access to email should submit a SASE. 

Selecting and preparing images
 - 2-D work is limited to one digital image per object.
 - 3-D work is limited to two digital images per object.
 - Jpgs only: maximum dimension of 1920 pixels (about 6 inches) at 300 `  dpi
 
Title your digital files as follows: 
Last name followed by underline (_) following by first letter of your    first name followed by underline (_) followed by the corresponding    letter to your entry, that is, 1,2,3,4 or 5. For example, Smith_J_1. 
Do not exceed 24 characters.
For two images of sculpture, add A and B after the number. 
For example: Smith_J_3A.

To enter
- Fill in the Entry form and make a copy. 
- Burn your disc, use a soft sharpie to put your name on the disk. Put in a case. Use a soft sharpie to put your name on the case or use a suitable paper label.
- Package disk, Entry form and check; and mail to:

Installation Option for Ranhorne Gallery
Pfac Biennial 2010 has a special feature – an installation option.
We are accepting proposals for the use of our Ranhorne Gallery (see diagram below). It measures 28 feet deep, 22 feet wide, with a 10-foot entry on the right. This installation will be on view from October 2-November 28.

Artists may submit up to five jpgs for their proposal and may include a packet of drawings, written description and/or other details as deemed necessary. Mention should be made of special technical or installation needs at the time of application. Artists are discouraged from submitting use of this option for a retrospective of their work. Thematic and other creative uses are encouraged.
 
Selection will be made by Michael Preble, Pfac Curator.

Installation proposals must be submitted by July 2. A separate $20 application fee applies. Digital part of the proposal should be on CD with the same specifications as noted above.

Artists may enter Biennial 2010 in either or both categories (regular juried exhibition or Installation option).
