African Art - Mali: The Empire
Present day Mali, at nearly twice the size of Texas, is the largest country in West Africa. Thanks to its rich and ancient past, Mali has become a country of vast diversity with nearly two dozen different ethnic groups living within its borders. Rediscovering a Legacy: Artistic Traditions of West Africa will feature objects borrowed from museums as well as private collectors within the southeast region.
African Inspirations
African Inspirations, an invitational exhibition held in conjunction with Mali: The Empire, will feature regional contemporary artists whose work is inspired by African art and culture. Pieces will be available for purchase.
