Biennial 2006
September 2 - October 29, 2006
The highly-anticipated Pfac Biennial selects
the best work in all media from thousands of entries submitted
from across North America. To experience Biennial 2006 will
be to feel the pulse of the current state of the arts. There
will be surprises, and something sure to delight everyone.
“The Biennial is one of Pfac’s
most exciting exhibitions, in part because you never quite
know what to expect. This year’s juror, Tony Hepburn,
adds an interesting dimension to the process as a practicing
artist in several different media, an experienced teacher
and a published writer. Since the exhibit happens only every
two years, the work tends to be fresh and provides an intriguing
barometer of current work. It is in a way the perfect show
– full of surprise, excitement, drama and fun –
and something a lot more interesting to gossip about,”
notes Pfac Program Director Michael Preble.
An internationally-known artist and head
of the ceramics department at the renowned Cranbrook Academy
of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Hepburn is an accomplished
ceramicist and sculptor who has also built a reputation
for his remarkable drawings.
Biennial 2006 is sponsored in part by
the Pfac Business/Arts Alliance

the Rocky Mountain region. Spotlighting food, fun and good
company, this exhibition looks at traditional potluck suppers
with a fresh and updated eye.

This selection of work in various media in the Ranhorne
Gallery will highlight the many creative expressions of
Yorktown’s most famous artist. Her energetic style,
bright colors and playful subjects have brought national

her illustrations in Pfac’s new cookbook, Art of the
Palate.
Weavings & Needlework by
Leigh Lambert
The Halsey Gallery comes alive this holiday season with
the distinctive creations of North Carolina artist Leigh
Lambert. In describing her work Leigh says, “Through
the ages needlepoint and weaving have been perceived as
domestic crafts. I continually challenge this assumption
with new applications, unusual subject matter and a personal
color palette to make it contemporary and relevant."
